Spring Gala Silent Auction

The Spring Gala Silent Auction is now open online and will remain open through Saturday evening, April 27, at 8:30 p.m. Please use the instructions below to access the auction and to get bidding in support of the WVU Cancer Institute. You may also access the auction through your browser using the link below.

All Spring Gala Silent Auction bidding will occur online, hosted on the Live Source auction platform.  If you do not already have a Live Source account, be sure to establish an account in advance of the event.  You may do so by downloading the Live Source app on android or iOS. After downloading the Live Source app, click on the secure Welcome link and enter your information.

A live auction will also occur Saturday night of the Spring Gala during the black-tie dinner dance. Live bidding will not take place on the auction platform and will instead occur in a traditional fashion, in room.  Winners should plan to check out following the auction with WVU Cancer Institute Development Office staff at the auction display and to retrieve their items prior to departure that evening. Below, please find a list of the live auction items featured this year.

CHARLES WESLEY GODWIN GUITAR & EXCLUSIVE BOURBON BARREL LID

Morgantown native and WVU graduate Charles Wesley Godwin is a critically acclaimed country-folk music artist, having released three albums and finding his song “Winter’s Come and Gone” featured on the soundtrack for the most recent motion picture in the Hunger Games series. He has collaborated and toured with Zach Bryan and is currently touring with award-winning Luke Combs. This exclusive offering includes an authentic Fender Acoustic Guitar that was personally signed by Charles specifically for this event. FRAMED ART BY HUNT SLONEM

Hunt Slonem (American/Louisiana, b. 1951) “Barnaby,” 2023, oil on board, signed, titled and dated en verso, 10 in. x 8 in., framed 13.5 in. x 11.5 in. Hunt Slonem is renowned for his distinct neo-expressionist style. He is best known for his series of bunnies, butterflies and tropical birds, as well as his large-scale sculptures and restorations of forgotten historic homes. Slonem’s works can be found in the permanent collections of 250 museums around the world, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Whitney, the Miro Foundation and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Valued at $6,500.

DINNER FOR 10 AT BLANEY HOUSE

This dinner party will be the envy of all! Enjoy Chef Paul Smith’s telling of Appalachia’s story through food in the lovely surroundings of Blaney House, home of WVU President E. Gordon Gee and First Lady Laurie Erickson, your hosts! semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef Southeast Award, Chef Paul has worked around the country, from The Ritz Carlton Resort in Naples, Florida to the Biltmore Estates in Asheville, North Carolina and now has multiple restaurants in Charleston, West Virginia.
